Keighley & Skipton based Law firm AWB Charlesworth and Accountants Pearson & Associates celebrate their successful second Charity golf day held on Friday 26th June 2015. The day raised in excess of £2,800 for Martin House, the Wetherby based children’s hospice.

Despite some slightly windy weather, guests enjoyed a fantastic day of golf at Keighley Golf Club to raise money for Martin House Children’s Hospice. The joint hosts were joined by 13 other teams, including Barclays, Armstrong Watson and Bluefin Insurance. Guests enjoyed a quick bite to eat before a shot gun start at 12.30pm and 18 holes of golf at Keighley’s scenic golf course. After working up an appetite, players then returned to the club house for a three course evening meal, a top and tail quiz and a prize raffle in which some fantastic prizes were donated. AWB Charlesworth and Pearson & Associates thank all the local businesses for their generosity in donating to the day, including Keelham farm shop who donated a luxury hamper, Coniston hotel, Rendevouz hotel and Broughton hall estates. Through these donations alone the evening managed to raise an incredible £1160 in raffle tickets.

Throughout the day various challenges were held on some of the holes including ‘straightest line’ competition and ‘beat the pro’. In an attempt to win a prize or double their money, players were challenged to try and beat professional golfer Ben Mallinson in getting their ball closer than his on the par 3, 8th hole. Feeling lucky and digging deep players donated generously to raise a huge £425!

Taking last year’s winners, G Clarke Landscaping Ltd’s crown, the overall victors of the day were wealth management specialists Manse Capital Ltd all receiving trophies and a prize.

Speaking at the event, John Haigh, Corporate Fundraiser at Martin House, said “Many thanks to everyone involved in the charity golf day.  A fantastic amount of money was raised, which will go a long way to supporting the children and young people with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, across the Yorkshire region.  Our services are provided free of charge, 365 days a year, and families can choose to receive our support in their homes or at the hospice.  We rely almost entirely on voluntary donations to keep the hospice running, so the support from the AWB Charlesworth and Person & Associates golf day is very much appreciated by us all.”

In total the event raised over £2800 for Martin House Children’s Hospice, an amount that would not have been possible without the generosity and support of all the teams, raffle sponsors and hole sponsors. AWB Charlesworth and Pearson & Associated share thanks to everyone who got on board and backed their golf day for the second year and hope they will join them again next year where they hope to raise even more much needed funds for Martin House Childrens Hospice.
